There’s an old saying: A picture is worth a thousand words.
Students in MCO 426: Digital Media Literacy II – are blogging about images, from the ones they create to the ones they produce via a prompt on an app fueled by artificial intelligence (AI). I’m diving into this assignment with a look back at my week.
Last weekend, my kid had an Otter Pop before 10 a.m.
He finished his first heat for a swim meet at McClintock High School—the Grand Canyon State Championships. One of his coaches asked him what his favorite thing about his heat was. He said, “I finished.” His coach helped him celebrate with a blue Otter Pop. This summer marked his first season with the swim team, and he really enjoyed the experience. I wrote an essay about it and the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris for KJZZ Radio. I think it airs sometime this week.
Yesterday, the rest of the world dealt with a Crowdstrike outage – delaying flights, interrupting hospital services, bank operations, and more.
On social media, I saw friends and their families at airports, trying to figure out how to get home. At the downtown campus of Arizona State, I also saw evidence of Crowdstrike inside the University Center. The blue screens of death didn’t phase anybody inside the building, and it didn’t look like they were hosting any classes. The screens are usually used for announcements and campus promotions.
Finally, the Emmy nominations are out! I’m still on season 1 of The Bear, but I am rooting for Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and their talented crew for this awards season.
I’m also cheering on Donald Glover and Maya Erskine in Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Here’s the prompt I used to produce the image on Google’s Gemini: ‘Please make an image about unicorns winning the Emmys.
Honestly, I was going for something absurd with this photo and Gemini delivered. Here’s what I found when I Googled: unicorns winning Emmys.
